Year Round Aqiqah Services

It is a sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W that when a baby is born the parents should perform aqiqah for the child by slaughtering two goats or sheep for a boy and one sheep or goat for a girl.

The birth of a child is a joyous occasion for every family. But even at this happy time Muslims are expected to remember the less fortunate.
The wife of the Prophet, Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), is reported to have said: 'The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did the aqeeqah for al-Hasan and al-Husayn on the seventh day, and gave them names.' - Ibn Hibban, 12/127; Al-Hakim, 4/264.
The sunnah is to perform the sacrifice on the seventh day after the child is born although there is no harm in performing it later. An aqiqah can be offered at any point after a child's birth, but it is recommended to perform it within the first week (and ideally on the seventh day). In addition, it is the recommended Sunnah for parents to give sadaqah of equal value to the weight in silver of their baby's hair (when it is shaved on the seventh day after birth).

What is the Purpose of Aqiqah?

There are many benefits in the performance of Aqiqah. The Almighty has bestowed us with this blessing in the form of the newborn child therefore by performing Aqiqah we are being thankful to Allah and seeking protection from him. Child is protected from all evil, danger and ill fortune.
Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, states: "Among the benefits of`Aqiqah are:

-
It is a sacrifice by means of which the child is brought close to Allah soon after he comes into this world.
-
It is a ransom for the newborn so that he or she can intercede for his parents.
-
It is a sacrifice by which the newborn is ransomed just as Allah ransomed Isma`eel with the ram. ( Tuhfat al-Mawdood , p. 69)."
